Ingelvac M hyo - a one-shot vaccine with proven effectiveness - under high or low infection pressure. |
All M hyo vaccines are killed vaccines, i.e. isolated M hyo bacteria have been grown in quantity then killed to inactivate them (the antigen) so that they cannot grow and multiply in the body of the vaccinated animal. In order to enhance the immune stimulation provided by killed vaccines, they are usually delivered in an adjuvant which improves the immune stimulation provided. Until recently, in order to stimulate a sufficient immune response with M hyo vaccines, they had to be administered twice. In recent years a new vaccine, Ingelvac® M hyo, has been developed which eliminates the need for the second vaccination. The unique and novel adjuvant system Impran®, presents the vaccine antigen to the pig's immune system over a period of time and so mimics the traditional two-shot vaccination regimes. Unlike some adjuvant systems which utilise mineral oils which are poorly tolerated if accidentally self-injected, this sustained-release adjuvant system consists of fully biodegradable oils which are very well tolerated. |
