Why does M. hyopneumoniae make it easier for other pathogens to enter the lungs?
M. hyo adheres to the cilia in the respiratory system and blocks cileal movement. The cells become damaged and lead to reduced cleansing function in the lungs which facilitates colonization by secondary pathogens.
