How widespread is M. hyopneumoniae?

M. hyo is present in almost all countries worldwide.

In Switzerland enzootic pneumonia (EP) is rated as "disease to be eradicated". Full coverage eradication was initiated on this basis and herds recognized by the Pig Health Service as A and B herds are EP-free.

In the UK, although the disease may be eradicated by depopulation or medicated partial depopulation, breakdown is common. Vaccination is therefore the preferred means of control
