FAQ |
| What damage does the pathogen and the disease cause? |
| Before full vaccination coverage against M. hyo was initiated, research demonstrated that the majority of all slaughtered pigs displayed lung lesions that were attributed to respiratory tract diseases. The economic impact of M. hyo is almost always due to loss of performance and not mortality. Low daily gains (up to 150g/day) and inferior feed conversion (up to 15%), uneven growth rates among littermates and higher medication use cause a reduction in the contribution margin. |
